While flicking through tweets last night I cam across something that could my eye and had to investigate further. The tweet in mention was not so much the 140 characters but the username of the user, @ReplaceBrie . My first thought was, is Brie mad, she clearly wants to leave her job, and is letting the world know. I didn’t know who Brie was but felt compelled to dig deeper.
What I found was refreshing and a great use of Social Media and overall approach from the company she works for Adcorp, a recruitment advertising agency here in Australia. Brie tweeted nterested in replacing me? Here’s the details: http://bit.ly/bcGFOw And this is where she works http://twitpic.com/1n37p1
So after clicking through I was pleasantly surprised to be reading a job ad that was straight from Brie (I hope). Brie delves in to her personal life to start and her love of her job, and then outlines in great detail what the Adcorp and her now vacant position are all about. This is nothing new but it is the personal aspect that Brie has delivered that made it one of the better job ads I have read. And I’ve read a few, 5 years working at Seek will do that to you.
I have blogged previously (here is that post) about how job ads these days are all to similar and the structure has gone the way of robotic, bland and boring. This ad however showed me there are still some people out there willing to buck the trend and add the personal touch. And it was great to see a recruitment ad agency leading the way. If you agency aren’t suggesting to you to mix things up with your ad writing, get a new agency. All credit here goes to Adcorp (and of course Brie).
But it doesn’t end there, what I am loving the most about this now vacant position is how Adcorp and Brie are utilising Social Media in a way I haven’t seen yet and love. Brie’s username on Twitter is @ReplaceBrie. The username is obvious as to it’s intentions, the use of Twitter targets the right demographic of the person they are looking for, and it is Brie promoting the position as well, great employee ambassador styled approach.
Great stuff from Adcorp and Brie on this approach and something that all companies should consider as a recruitment advertising strategy.
